Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s 81 seals India’s 3-0 T20I series sweep of Zimbabwe

India beat Zimbabwe by 35 runs in the third T20I to complete a 3-0 series sweep, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scoring 81 and Mayank Yadav taking 3/29.

India secured a 3-0 sweep of their T20I series against Zimbabwe with a 35-run win in the third and final match at Harare Sports Club on Sunday. India’s 192/5 proved too much for Zimbabwe, who were restricted to 157/7 while chasing 193.

The innings was headlined by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s 81 off 49 balls at the top of the order. The teenager had already shown his form earlier in the series, scoring a maiden T20I fifty off 18 balls in the first match and 20 off 9 balls in the second.

Sooryavanshi, 15, is now the first cricketer from a full-member Test nation to score two international half-centuries before turning 16.

Mayank Yadav’s bowling was central to defending the total, with figures of 3 for 29 helping India control Zimbabwe’s chase from the middle overs onward.

The 3-0 scoreline in the T20Is matches India’s result in the ODI series earlier on the tour, which they also won 3-0 against Zimbabwe.
