India’s Test squad for Sri Lanka to hinge on Jadeja, Bumrah fitness

India’s Test squad for the Sri Lanka tour depends on Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness, ahead of the first Test on August 15.

India’s Test squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour is likely to hinge on the fitness of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, a key point at the selection meeting.

Jadeja has been recovering from a tennis elbow injury picked up during IPL 2026, with no official update yet on when he will be fully fit.

Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness is also under close watch. Both players missed India’s one-off Test against Afghanistan.

Despite this, Jadeja remains in contention for a recall given the value of his all-round game against Sri Lanka.

The two-Test series starts with the first match at Galle on August 15, followed by the second Test in Colombo from August 23.

India head into the series fifth in the World Test Championship table.
