Mirzapur: The Movie confirmed, Pankaj Tripathi and Ali Fazal to return

The makers of Mirzapur have officially confirmed a feature film extension of the popular crime drama series, tentatively titled Mirzapur: The Movie.

Pankaj Tripathi and Ali Fazal are both set to reprise their respective roles from the show, continuing the power struggle at the centre of the franchise’s fictional Uttar Pradesh underworld.

The confirmation follows the conclusion of the show’s third season, which left several major plot threads open and set up the kind of large-scale conflict that the film is expected to resolve.

Mirzapur has been one of the most-watched Hindi-language web series since its 2018 debut, building a large and highly engaged fanbase across its three seasons.

The move to a feature film marks one of the more prominent instances of an Indian streaming series being extended into a theatrical or large-format release, a format increasingly explored by platforms looking to capitalise on established IP.
