Mirzapur: The Movie’s day 1 collection hits Rs 25.15 crore

Mirzapur: The Movie collected Rs 25.15 crore net in India on its opening day, becoming the fourth-biggest Hindi opener of 2026 behind Dhurandhar 2, Toxic and Border 2.

Mirzapur: The Movie’s day 1 collection hit Rs 25.15 crore net in India, making it the fourth-biggest Hindi opener of 2026.

The film logged a theatrical occupancy of 42.81% on its opening day, September 4, marking a strong big-screen debut for the franchise.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said the numbers reflected the tremendous popularity of the Mirzapur franchise and its loyal fan base.

The opening trails Dhurandhar 2 (around Rs 99 crore), Toxic (around Rs 55 crore) and Border 2 (Rs 30 crore) for the year.

A Janmashtami holiday boost and rival Toxic’s weak Rs 1.75 crore second Friday both contributed to the strong opening.

Mirzapur: The Movie marks one of the more high-profile attempts to convert a hit streaming franchise into a full theatrical release, following the show’s three successful seasons on Amazon Prime Video.

The film stars the franchise’s original ensemble, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit and Divyenndu as Munna Bhaiya, alongside newer additions such as Ravi Kishan.

Analysts expect the film’s momentum to carry into the weekend, aided by the absence of major new theatrical competition in its release window.

The film released in both Hindi and Telugu on September 4, 2026, expanding its reach beyond the franchise’s traditional Hindi-speaking streaming audience.

The film’s opening places it fourth among 2026’s biggest openers, behind Dhurandhar 2 at roughly Rs 99 crore, Toxic at roughly Rs 55 crore and Border 2 at Rs 30 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said the response reflected the strength of the Mirzapur franchise’s fan base, noting that loyal viewers had turned up in full strength for the theatrical debut.

The film also benefited from the Janmashtami holiday, which added to footfall on its opening day.

Rival release Toxic, now in its second week, managed just Rs 1.75 crore on its second Friday, giving Mirzapur a relatively clear run at screens and audiences.
