Jugsalai arrests: Police recover country-made pistol from Millat Nagar

Jamshedpur police arrested five youths in Jugsalai’s Millat Nagar area on allegations of plotting a murder, recovering a country-made pistol and cartridges.

Police recovered a country-made pistol during a raid in Millat Nagar, Jugsalai, that led to five arrests.

The raid was carried out near the Golghar primary school after police received information on September 17.

The pistol’s magazine held two live cartridges, and police also seized 7.65 mm ammunition.

The five youths are accused of planning a murder, an allegation police are still investigating.

Officers are tracing the source of the weapons and examining earlier firing incidents.

Police allege the group had gathered with weapons and was planning to murder members of a rival family.

A case has been registered at Jugsalai police station under case number 74 of 2026.

Police have linked the case to an earlier complaint filed on August 9 alleging firing and threats to kill.

Investigators are also examining a firing incident reported from a rooftop in Millat Nagar on August 26.

Police said they are now tracing the source of the weapons and the role of any other people in the alleged conspiracy.

The accused are entitled to a fair trial, and the allegations remain to be tested in court.

The Jugsalai area has featured in several police cases involving firearms that have been reported by local media.

Millat Nagar falls in the Jugsalai police station area of East Singhbhum district, of which Jamshedpur is the headquarters city.

According to police, the accused were found gathered near the Golghar primary school with the weapon when the raid was carried out.

Reports said the alleged plan was aimed at members of a rival family, and police are still working to establish the motive behind the alleged plot.

Possession of an unlicensed firearm can attract action under India’s Arms Act, and conspiracy provisions apply where a plan to commit murder is alleged.

Jamshedpur is one of Jharkhand’s best-known industrial cities and is home to the Tata Steel works, which makes law and order there closely watched.
