Prime Focus Studios founder Namit Malhotra has described the studio’s new distribution deal with Sony Pictures for Ramayana as a historic moment. The deal covers the film’s release outside India.
Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi in lead roles and is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, with music composed by Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman.
The deal is being described as one of the biggest international distribution agreements ever signed for an Indian film. The trailer launch for Ramayana has been postponed following the announcement.
The film is expected to release internationally in multiple languages, including a premium English-language version.
Dharma Productions, led by Karan Johar, will handle the film’s distribution within India.
