Riyadh attack: What Saudi forces say happened

Saudi forces said they intercepted a Houthi ballistic missile aimed at Riyadh.

The coalition also said it thwarted attacks on Bish, Taif, Farasan and Yanbu.

The Houthis claimed to have attacked Saudi Aramco facilities in Yanbu.

The coalition reported no damage.

The Riyadh attack was reported as the first since hostilities began in July.

Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis claimed an attack on Riyadh, which was reported to be the first Houthi attack on the Saudi capital since hostilities began in July 2026.

The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile aimed at Riyadh and thwarted attacks aimed at Bish, Taif, Farasan and Yanbu.

The Houthis claimed to have targeted Saudi Aramco facilities in the Red Sea port city of Yanbu, while the coalition reported no damage.

A strike on a jet fuel facility at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on September 19 was also reported.

US crude fell about 3.7 percent to about 92.56 dollars a barrel and Brent fell about 3.2 percent to about 100.54 dollars on hopes of US-Iran diplomacy, according to the report.

The claims of the parties in the conflict are their own statements and have not all been independently verified.

India imports most of its crude oil, and oil price moves linked to the conflict feed into India’s import bill and market sentiment.

Brent crude has traded above 100 dollars a barrel in recent weeks because of the conflict and concerns over supply.

Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, told Al Jazeera that Tehran had conveyed its demands to Washington through Qatari mediators.

According to reports, the seven conditions include an end to the war on all fronts, the release of frozen Iranian assets and the lifting of the US naval blockade on Iranian ports.
