A very heavy rain warning has been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand, with the India Meteorological Department placing the regions under a red alert for the next two days.

Widespread rainfall is also expected over Ladakh through the rest of the week.

The IMD has warned that wind speeds could reach up to 80 kmph in some areas, raising the risk of uprooted trees and power outages.

Traffic disruptions and waterlogging in low-lying localities are also anticipated as the rain persists.

Hilly states have been cautioned about possible landslides and sudden rises in river water levels because of the ongoing rainfall.
